Creating designs
How to start a new design, pick a type, and manage the library.
A design is a single piece of work — one page, one deck, one animation. Each design has its own chat thread, its own snapshot history, and its own brand asset configuration. The library at /designer is where you start one and where you come back to your in-progress work.
Starting a new design
Click + New design from the library. You'll get a dialog with three things to fill in:
Title
The name your team sees in the library. Up to 80 characters. Pick something descriptive — "Q3 launch deck" reads better in a list than "Untitled".
Type
Pick the output type:
- Page — Landing pages, mockups, single-page designs (1280×720 default viewport)
- Deck — Slide decks at 1920×1080 with multiple slides
- Animation — Motion design, video clips for social
- Prototype — iOS / Android app mockups, multi-screen flows
- I'll just describe it — Skip the type. The designer infers from your first prompt.
You can change the type later via the chip in the editor's top bar.
First message (optional)
If you already know what you want, type it here. The designer agent will pick up this message as soon as the design is created. Otherwise, leave it blank and you can write your first message in the editor.
A good first message has:
- The subject — what is this thing? ("Landing page for our developer tools company")
- The shape — how should it look? ("Hero, three feature cards, a CTA at the bottom")
- The vibe — what tone? ("Minimal, dark, code-snippets-as-background")
Click Create design to land in the editor.
The library
The library at /designer lists every design in your workspace that you can see. Each card shows:
- A thumbnail (the latest preview snapshot)
- The title
- The type chip
- How recently it was updated
You can:
- Search by title with the search input
- Filter by type via the chips at the top
- Open by clicking a card
Renaming, deleting, exporting
Inside a design, the top-bar More menu has:
- Pin version — bookmark a snapshot you want to come back to (ships in phase 4)
- Export — export to a static file or other format (ships in phase 5)
- Share — share with teammates (ships in phase 4)
- Delete — permanent delete
In v1.0, Pin version, Export, and Share show "coming soon" toasts. Delete works fully — it removes the design, every snapshot, and the parent document. The action can't be undone.
Output type chip
Next to the title in the top bar, there's a small chip showing the design's output type. Click it to switch — useful if you started with Unspecified and now know what kind of output you want, or if you decide a Page should actually be a Deck.
Switching the type doesn't reset your work — it just tells the designer agent to think about the next iteration through the new lens.
