Troubleshooting
Common Brainstorm issues and how to fix them.
A note shows "Enrichment failed"
Enrichment runs through Opisense's AI service. If it fails (network issue, service down), the note shows "Enrichment failed" with a Retry button. Click Retry to try again. The note still exists on the canvas — only the type and annotation are missing.
If retries keep failing, your workspace's AI service may be having issues. Check back in a few minutes.
I added a note but it's missing a type
Either:
- Enrichment is still running. Wait a couple of seconds — types take 1–3s to land
- Enrichment failed. Look for the Retry button and try again
You can also force a type by adding the note again with a slash-prefix (/idea, /decision, etc.) and deleting the original.
Synthesis never fires
Synthesis requires:
- At least 5 enriched notes on the canvas
- Notes spanning at least 2 distinct types
- A cooldown of ~5 minutes since the last attempt
If you have all of those and still don't see a candidate, the AI may have looked and decided there's nothing worth saying. That's a valid outcome — you can force it with Cmd+K → Generate synthesis now.
I can't drag a card into the Thesis column
That's intentional. Theses are system-only — they only come from solidified syntheses. If you want a thesis-shaped note, write it as a /claim or wait for the AI to suggest one.
The mobile view is showing a list, not the canvas
In v1.0, mobile is read-only by design. Notes show as a grouped list; the spatial canvas doesn't render below 768px. Use a desktop or tablet for the full experience.
Inline note editing doesn't work
It's deferred to v1.0.1. The Edit item in a note's action menu is a placeholder. To change a note in v1.0, delete it and add a new one.
A solidified thesis disappeared
Solidified theses are permanent — they shouldn't disappear. If one's gone, check:
- Did someone delete it? Edit-level collaborators can delete any note, including theses. Check the activity log on the parent document.
- Was the brainstorm itself deleted? If yes, every note (including theses) is gone with it.
There's no trash for individual notes — deletion is final.
I see two notes with the same content
Two things to check:
- Did you submit twice? The composer doesn't dedupe. If you hit Enter twice quickly, you get two notes.
- Did the slash-prefix get parsed differently?
/idea Xand/claim Xlook similar but produce two distinct notes. Delete one if you only meant one.
The Cmd+K palette doesn't open
The shortcut is Cmd+K on macOS and Ctrl+K on Windows/Linux. It only fires when the canvas is focused — click anywhere on the canvas first, then try the shortcut.
If a browser extension or system shortcut is grabbing Cmd+K, you'll need to disable that conflict. There's no in-app way to remap the binding.
