Ask the Assistant
Bring the assistant into a Space — grounded in that Space's documents, and able to create and edit content right inside it.
A Space can have its own assistant. Open a Space, turn on Ask assistant, and a side panel opens with a conversation bound to that Space — so the assistant searches the Space's documents first and can create and edit content directly inside it. It mirrors Ask the assistant for personal documents, scoped to the whole Space instead of a single page.
Opening the panel
From a Space's header, click Ask assistant. The panel opens beside the Space in a resizable layout, with a conversation already bound to the Space. Drag the divider to give the chat or the content more room.
Grounded in the Space
When you ask a question, the assistant searches the Space's documents first, so answers come from the content your team keeps there. If nothing relevant turns up in the Space, it falls back to your broader knowledge base. Either way, it tells you where each answer came from, so you can see whether a result is from this Space or elsewhere.
Because the conversation is bound to the Space, this works for anyone with access — the assistant draws on the Space's shared content, not just documents you personally created.
Creating and editing content
The Space assistant can do more than answer:
- Create documents inside the Space from a request like "draft a kickoff checklist."
- Edit existing Space documents the same way the personal assistant edits your own — inserting sections, revising parts, or rewriting a page.
Edits respect Space roles: the assistant can create and edit content where you have edit access in the Space.
Sessions
Like the personal document panel, the Space assistant remembers its conversations. Reopen the panel and the thread resumes, and the session switcher lets you jump between threads or start a + New session for the Space.
