Tasks Troubleshooting
Solutions for common issues with scheduled tasks — from tasks that won't run to unexpected output.
If a task isn't behaving the way you expect, here are the most common issues and how to fix them.
Task isn't running
The task is active but hasn't run at the scheduled time.
Check the task's schedule in the detail view. Make sure the time zone is correct — Opisense uses your workspace's time zone by default. If the schedule looks right, give it a few minutes. Tasks may be slightly delayed during high-traffic periods.
The task shows a "failed" status.
Open the task and check the latest run entry for error details. Common causes include:
- The connected knowledge source was removed or is no longer accessible
- The instructions reference something the AI can't find
- A required skill was disabled
Fix the underlying issue and the task will succeed on its next run.
If a task fails repeatedly, Opisense may automatically pause it to prevent wasted runs. You'll see a notification when this happens. Fix the issue, then manually resume the task.
Output isn't what you expected
The AI produced something different from what you wanted.
This almost always comes down to the instructions. Review them and ask yourself: would a human understand exactly what to do from these instructions alone? If not, add more detail. Specify the format, scope, and data sources explicitly.
The output is too vague or too detailed.
Add guidance about length and depth. For example: "Keep the summary under 200 words" or "Include specific numbers and dates." The AI follows your lead, so the more specific you are, the closer the output matches your expectations.
Schedule issues
The task runs at the wrong time.
Double-check the time zone setting in your workspace preferences. If you recently changed time zones, existing tasks may still use the old setting. Edit the task and re-save the schedule to update it.
You want a task to run immediately.
Tasks normally wait for their next scheduled time. To trigger an immediate run, open the task and click Run Now from the options menu. This doesn't affect the regular schedule — the task will still run at its next scheduled time as usual.
Task is stuck or taking too long
If a task has been running for an unusually long time, it may have encountered a complex request. Wait a few more minutes, then check the results. If it still hasn't completed, try simplifying the instructions or breaking the work into multiple smaller tasks.
