Threads and files — manage your agent conversations

Manage agent conversations across threads and bring files into a chat.

What you'll do

Learn how to start new agent conversations, return to earlier ones, and attach files so the agent can work with your actual content.

Steps

Start a new thread

Inside any agent's chat, click + New conversation in the sidebar or at the top of the chat panel. A blank thread opens and the agent is ready for a fresh task, with no memory of the previous conversation.

Find and reopen an earlier thread

Previous conversations are listed in the thread sidebar, ordered by recency. Click any row to reopen it — the full conversation history loads and you can continue where you left off or ask a new question in context.

Attach a file to a message

Click the paperclip icon in the composer (or drag a file directly onto the input area) and choose a file from your device. Supported types include PDF, Word, Excel, plain text, and images. The file attaches to your next message — it doesn't send until you do.

Reference the file in your prompt

Write your message as if the agent can already see the file — because once you send, it can. For example: "Summarize the key findings from this report" or "Extract the action items from this meeting notes doc." Be specific about what you want it to do with the content.

Threads are per-agent. A conversation you started in Research Analyst won't appear in Sales Assistant. If you want to use the same file with a different agent, attach it again in that agent's thread.
