Use the assistant in a space
Open the assistant inside a space to search, create, and edit its content.
Intermediate · ~5 min · Prerequisites: editor access to a space
Editing a Space's content requires editor or owner access. Viewers can open and read a Space but can't change it.
What you'll do
Open the assistant panel directly inside a Space so it can search the Space's documents and create or edit content there.
Open it from the Space
Navigate to any Space you can edit, then click Ask assistant in the Space header. A panel opens bound to that Space — the assistant knows which Space it's in and uses that context automatically.
What it does here
When you chat with the assistant inside a Space, it:
- Searches the Space's documents first — answers and summaries draw on the content your team has stored in this Space before pulling from broader knowledge.
- Creates documents in the Space — ask it to draft a page and the result lands in the current Space, not your personal library.
- Edits Space content — mention a document with
@and the assistant can update it in place. Only editors and owners can trigger edits.
