AI Configuration

Customize how AI behaves in your workspace — set personality, tone, and manage API keys for supported providers.

AI configuration lets you control how AI responds and which models it uses across your workspace. You'll find these options under Settings > AI Configuration.

General AI settings

The general section covers workspace-wide AI behavior:

  • Default model — Choose which AI model Opisense uses for general tasks. You can select from available models based on your plan and connected API keys.
  • Response length — Set whether AI responses lean concise or detailed by default. Individual agents can override this.
  • Language — Choose the default language for AI responses. The AI will respond in this language unless a specific conversation or agent is configured differently.

These settings apply as sensible defaults. You can always override them at the agent or conversation level when you need something different.

Personality and tone

This is where you shape how your AI sounds. Opisense lets you configure:

  • Tone — Choose from options like professional, casual, friendly, or direct. This affects word choice, formality, and overall feel.
  • Personality traits — Fine-tune specific characteristics. For example, you might want the AI to be more encouraging, more concise, or more detail-oriented.
  • Custom instructions — Add free-text instructions that the AI will follow in every interaction. Use this for things like "Always suggest next steps" or "Avoid technical jargon."

Personality settings apply to your assistant and serve as defaults for new agents. Existing agents keep their own personality settings unless you update them individually.

API key management

Opisense supports multiple AI providers. To use a specific provider's models, you'll need to add your own API key.

Supported providers:

  • OpenAI — Access GPT models for general-purpose AI tasks
  • Anthropic — Access Claude models for nuanced, safety-conscious AI responses

To add an API key:

  1. Go to Settings > AI Configuration > API Keys
  2. Click Add Key
  3. Select the provider
  4. Paste your API key and give it a label (like "Production" or "Team Key")
  5. Click Save

Opisense encrypts all API keys at rest and never displays them in full after saving. You can rotate keys anytime by adding a new one and removing the old one.

Keep your API keys secure. Anyone with access to your workspace's AI configuration settings can see which keys are connected (though not the key values themselves). Use workspace permissions to restrict who can manage API keys.
