Security

Protect your account with password management, two-factor authentication, and session controls.

Your security settings help you keep your Opisense account safe. You'll find everything under Settings > Security.

Changing your password

You can update your password anytime. Opisense requires your current password before setting a new one, so even if someone has access to your session, they can't change it without knowing the existing password.

Choose a strong password — at least 12 characters with a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols. Opisense will flag weak passwords and won't let you reuse recent ones.

If you signed up with Google or Microsoft SSO, you won't see a password option here. Your authentication is managed by your identity provider instead.

Two-factor authentication (2FA)

Two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security by requiring a second verification step when you sign in. Even if someone gets your password, they can't access your account without the second factor.

To enable 2FA:

  1. Go to Settings > Security > Two-Factor Authentication
  2. Click Enable 2FA
  3. Scan the QR code with an authenticator app (like Google Authenticator, Authy, or 1Password)
  4. Enter the 6-digit code to confirm setup

Save your backup codes somewhere safe when you enable 2FA. If you lose access to your authenticator app, these codes are the only way back into your account.

Active sessions

The sessions panel shows you everywhere your account is currently signed in — including device type, browser, location, and when each session started. This is helpful for spotting anything unusual.

If you see a session you don't recognize, you can revoke it immediately. That session will be signed out instantly, and whoever was using it will need to authenticate again.

You can also use Revoke All Sessions to sign out everywhere at once. This is a good idea if you think your account may have been compromised.
