Triage and reply to your inbox

Work through your inbox with the assistant — summarize, prioritize, and reply.

Intermediate · ~10 min · Prerequisites: an email connector

What you'll do

Run a focused inbox session: get a digest of what's new, let the assistant flag what actually needs your attention, draft replies with a single approval step each, and optionally schedule the whole routine to happen automatically.

Summarize what's new

Start with a bird's-eye view. Ask: "Summarize my unread emails from the last 24 hours."

The assistant scans your connected inbox and returns a short digest — sender, subject, and one-line gist per thread. Threads that look routine (newsletters, automated alerts) are grouped separately so the signal stands out from the noise.

If you want to narrow the scope, ask: "Just the unread emails from people on my team" or "Only threads where I was mentioned directly."

Decide what matters

Once you have the digest, ask the assistant to rank it: "Which of these actually need a reply today?"

It evaluates each thread — urgency signals, whether you're in the To line vs CC, how long the thread has been waiting — and returns a short prioritized list with a one-line reason for each. You stay in control: accept the ranking, push back, or ask it to explain a specific call.

Draft replies

Pick the threads you want to handle and ask for a draft one at a time:

"Draft a reply to Marcus saying I'll have the report by Thursday EOD."

The draft appears in an approval card. Review the subject, body, and recipient, then either:

  • Approve to send it immediately through your connected account.
  • Reply with a correction ("shorter, and drop the opening pleasantry") to get a revised draft before you approve.
  • Decline to skip that thread for now.

Work through the list at whatever pace suits you. Each send is a separate approval — nothing leaves your inbox without your sign-off.

Make it recurring

If you want this digest without having to ask for it, turn it into a scheduled task. See Set up a recurring summary for the full walkthrough — the short version is: "Summarize my inbox every weekday at 8am and notify me."

The assistant sets up a cron-style task that runs on its own and drops the digest into your Inbox each morning.
