Set up a recurring summary

Schedule the assistant to produce a digest automatically on a cadence you choose.

Intermediate · ~10 min · Prerequisites: None

What you'll do

Tell the assistant what to summarize and when, confirm the schedule, and let it run — delivering a digest to your inbox on repeat without any manual work.

The quick way: just ask

"Summarize my inbox every weekday at 8am."

The assistant creates a scheduled task with that cadence and timezone, then confirms it's active. You'll receive the digest in your notifications each morning.

Describe the recurring task

Be specific about two things: what to summarize and when to deliver it. The more detail you give, the more useful the digest.

Good examples:

  • "Every Monday at 9am, summarize anything new in the Q3 project folder and send it to me."
  • "Each Friday at 5pm, list all tasks I completed this week and any still open."
  • "Daily at 7am, pull the three most urgent inbox items and highlight any from the leadership team."

If your request is vague, the assistant will ask a clarifying question before setting the schedule.

Confirm the schedule

The assistant shows you a summary card with the cadence (daily, weekdays, weekly), time, and timezone before creating the task. Review these carefully — a 9am task runs at 9am in your configured timezone, which defaults to your workspace setting.

To adjust: reply with the change before approving — "make it 7:30am" or "run it on weekdays only."

You can name the task anything you like: "Call it 'Morning briefing'." The name appears in your task list and in the notification subject line.

Where results land

Completed runs appear as a notification in your Inbox. The notification contains the full digest text so you can read it without opening a new view. High-priority items can be flagged if you ask for that in your prompt — "mark it urgent if there are any blockers."

Results are also visible in the task's run history if you want to compare digests over time. See Tasks for how to find them.

Manage it

Change or pause the task by asking the assistant directly:

  • "Pause my morning briefing until next Monday."
  • "Change the inbox summary to run at 6:30am instead."
  • "Cancel the Friday task summary."

Each change shows a confirmation before it takes effect. You can also manage tasks from the Tasks page if you prefer a UI.
